Barby Hobyak Roche received dual undergraduate degrees in Theatre & Education from Villanova University and an MFA in Dance from the University of Michigan. Favorite theatrical roles over the years include; Cassie (A Chorus Line/SALT & Candlelight Dinner Theatre), Fastrada (Pippin/NCT), Maria (West Side Story/Vasey Theatre), Cinderella (Into The Woods/Vasey), Masie (The Boyfriend/Vasey), Eve (The Meat Opera/Phila & NY Fringe Festivals), Peggy (42nd Street/Candlelight), Polly (Crazy For You/Candlelight), Give My Regards to Broadway & Hooray for Hollywood (Three Little Bakers). Barby was a company member with the Koresh Dance Company, Opus1, Jazz Dance Theatre, Ann Arbor Dance Works, Artichoke Dance Co, NetCo, & Fiddlekicks. She has also enjoyed teaching Dance (and choreographing musicals) as a professor in Villanova University's Theatre Department for the past 33 years! During that time, she choreographed many musicals (receiving Barrymore nominees for Parade & Children of Eden) Additionally, she has taught dance at WBCDA since 2017 (and has been a guest teacher at Koresh, DVDA, PAB, KDA, Kristina Pulcini & Twirl). She is overjoyed to be on the teaching staff of KDA this year!...and looks forward to sharing her love of dance with her students :)
